Sister Alice It is a very hot sultry day so hot that it is uncomfortable in the Tent and now I have commenced this Letter I have almost a mind to throw it a side and I would if I had any thng else to do It is a very lonesom place although it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is situated on the Potomac River I do not know how long we will stay here and hope it it will not be very long the report is that we are a going to be joined here by the remainder of the Regiment be remounted and do Patroll Duty in the County another is that we are a going to be sent to the State the 5th 6th 7th will be mustered out in a short time I do not think we will be retained the remainer of our Time I wish you would send some books to me I wanted fan to but she said ma would not let her and you can do as you like Tell Sam that I have not received the Tobacco yet Al I have not any news to write for you know what the Papers contain as well as I do I am heartly sick and tired of Soldiering I have not the heart to do any thing I have a good notion to run off in to the woods for a month or so I would like to see loly and grace about now I suppose loly is getting to be a big girl Tell Johnie to be a good boy or I will not like him Give my love to all and a kiss to the little ones Good By I will try and do better next time J.
