Dear Mother I wrote a letter home on the eleventh, inst but have not received an answer yet the male for our company got have to-night and I was disappointed at not receiving any but I think that the letter if you have wrote one has gone on to richmond with two of our boys who were taken prisoners when they went to linden with dispatches and were taken to gether with thirteen infantry men and I think they had our male We have been quite busy for the past two days building Breastworks for there is six hundred sesech cavalry in the mountains and there is but our company and one company of infantry but we have got it fixed so that we can hold out until we are reinforced if they attackt us we heard that the commander of the regiment are a going to join us here but do not know how true it is So Johnie has wrote a couple of letters but has got no answers as we have not got any stamps i had to borrow this from paul svitzel you will have to send me some before I can write again I got the likeness all safe and I wish you would send Jonnies if you can The weather is very hot down here and is getting hotter every day every thing is very nice down here the grass is up to the top of a fellows boots and the fruit trees are all in bloom we are building now acrost a brook to make a swimming place which will be very nice to jump into when we get warm and tired I hope you all feel as well as I do for i feel tip top I have not been sick but four days since I left home and that was a pain in my side caused by wriding horse back but i cannot say so about the rest of the boys for they all have a fit now and then but i suppose it is just to get off of picket I would like to have a paper now and then for it is lone some here with out the news I will write again when you send me some stamps Good By Jasper Winchell |
